WHAT SHOULD I BE LOOKING FOR TO KNOW IF I NEED A NEW ROOF?

in Do I need a new roof?

Thats a great question! If you are seeing shingle loss..missing shingles..shingles that are shining in the sun..shingles that are showing the outline of the “teeth”..shingles that are frayed and furry.. or shingles that are missing..yes, you need a new roof! Often times a roof will show blatant signs of needing to be replaced and other times it will not show blatant signs but will still be in need of replacement. Things such as adhesion loss and mis-nailed shingles that can cause premature tearing and possible leaking will not always be seen from the ground when looking at your roof. That is why a thorough and professional inspection is needed to determine just how much life your roof has left and when is the best time to replace it? Something to always keep in mind is that there is never a better time than now to get a new roof for your home. In most cases, our home is our biggest asset and we want to protect that asset for as long as we own it. Maintaining it in the best way possible will protect you in the long run.

WHAT TYPE OF ROOFING MATERIAL IS BEST FOR MY HOME?

in What type of roofing material is best for my home?

There are several different types of roofing material available to homeowners today. In our region, due to the extreme temperature changes, the most typical roofing material is metal roofing and asphalt dimension shingles. The latter being the choice of most homeowners for the longevity of the shingle, the color options and the ease of installation. You can expect to have 25-30 years of great performance out of an asphalt dimensional shingled roof.

HOW LONG SHOULD I EXPECT MY ROOF TO LAST?

in How long will my new roof last?

You can expect to have 25-30 years of great performance out of an asphalt dimensional shingled roof. There are several factors that will determine the life of your new roof. The components used, the condition of the decking before the install, the proper adherence to local building codes, the competence and knowledge of the crew that is performing the install. All of these things will have a direct effect on the life of your roof.

WHAT WILL A NEW ROOF COST?

in What will a new roof cost?

Cost is always the first thing on everyone’s mind when it comes to having your roof replaced. No one roof is exactly the same as the next roof. Cost is determined by the amount of layers that you have on your roof currently, the new product that you pick to replace the existing shingles on your roof, the condition of the decking that is currently on the roof and also whether your home is easily accessible and how many stories are all a factor in determining the price of a new roof installation. As much as we would like to have a set price for everyone’s roof its impossible to determine the cost without a proper inspection beforehand.

WILL YOU PROVIDE A DETAILED ESTIMATE?

in Will you provide a detailed estimate?

Of course! We offer two types of estimates. An in home written estimate that covers all of the details that are included in a new roof replacement and we also offer a digital estimate that will show all of the components and give notes about the installation process complete and includes pictures. Even with our in home written proposal, we would be happy to provide the homeowner with a digital copy to keep for their records.

DO YOU HAVE INSURANCE AND LICENSING?

in Do you have insurance and licensing?

WHAT IS THE TIMELINE FOR A ROOFING PROJECT?

in What is the timeline for a roofing project?

Great Question! For most residential roofing projects, the project will be completed in one day from start to finish. Our crews will arrive first thing in the morning and begin to protect the yard and home with tarping and then begin to tear the roof off. Once that is complete, the project manager and crew lead will inspect the decking for any boards that need to be replaced. If any are determined to be replaced then the project manager will contact the homeowner and get prior approval to replace the boards. Once the boards are replaced, the roofing system can be installed and the roof will be finished.

For most siding projects, the timeline is longer as there are more components to a siding installation and each project is determined by the size of the area that is being sided and the material that is being used. Typically a siding project lasts from 1-3 weeks.

DO YOU OFFER A WARRANTY?

in Do you offer a warranty?

HOW WILL YOU HANDLE CLEAN UP AND DISPOSAL?

in How will you handle clean up and disposal

Our crews are clean and professional. They begin by laying tarps and protective material around the property to catch stray material that falls from the roof during tear off and installation. We provide dump trailers to haul the debris away on the day of the installation. Once the project is complete, the entire crew combs the property with rakes and magnets to get even the smallest pieces of trash, debris and nails that are common components from a roofing project that most other contractors overlook. Once the crew is done, the project manager and roofing contractor are the last to go over the property again for a final inspection to ensure that the property is left in the same, if not better shape, than when we arrived.

DO I NEED PERMITS?

in Do I need permits?

Depending on the location of your home and the local ordinances. You may or may not need a permit. If a permit is needed it will be discussed and obtained before or on the day of the project and will be displayed at all times during the project until completion.

in How will you address unexpected issues?

So are unavoidable and need to have further work approved to continue with the roofing or siding project. In those cases, Spire will work with the homeowner to find the best affordable solution that will allow the project to be completed to everyone’s satisfaction.
